Meet The Fellows
Zen Taylor
Birmingham, United States
ZT Unix is a rapper/singer based in Birmingham, Alabama who’s been able to face some of life’s most difficult challenges with the help of music. From being bullied for skin burns to living out of his car, ZT Unix has found sanctuary and motivation in music. He uses his life experiences to produce lyrical rap and deep, smooth R&B tracks that inspire others to persevere despite physical or emotional fatigue.
While ZT Unix began his artist’s journey with poetry, he expanded into singing, rapping, and creating beats once he was introduced to Kendrick Lamar, Juice WRLD, and Lil Darkie’s music. ZT Unix pushes the boundaries of personal expression by experimenting with a range of vocal tones. He uses growling to show aggression, softness to represent vulnerability, and over-annunciation coupled with hard-hitting bars when he feels like he has a point to prove. From crooning over airy R&B instruments to screaming along with grungy 808s and polishing his lyrical skills over East Coast boom bap, ZT Unix’s hope for peace is infused in each of his songs.
