Meet The Fellows

Geron Ruiz

Arima, Trinidad

Geron Ruiz is a Trinidad and Tobago artist on a mission to spread positivity worldwide through spoken word poetry and music. Initially feeling adrift without a clear passion or purpose, Geron's perception shifted upon stumbling upon Trinidad's National Poetry Slam, sparking a newfound interest in writing and performing.

In 2019, Geron embraced his calling as a spoken word poet, finding solace in the art form as a means to articulate his views on political and social issues affecting his community. Through years of honing his craft on stage, he developed the confidence to expand into the music industry, blending Caribbean-inspired hip-hop and blues with his poetic prowess to advocate for positivity and social awareness in Trinidad and beyond. In his leisure time, Geron indulges in his love for video games, unwinds with entertaining YouTube content, and cherishes moments with loved ones. Through his multifaceted talents and unwavering dedication, Geron Ruiz continues to inspire and uplift audiences across the globe.

"The most impactful part of the VERSIONS Fellowship to me was the community that we managed to build. The support that we show each other month by month is astounding. Each interaction we held with one another was special and I'm positive that we will all be sure to maintain the connection and community we made."
