Meet The Fellows

Naomi Phill

Siparia, Trinidad

Naomi Phill, known to the music industry as AMI, is a Trinidadian native and singer-songwriter-artist. The singer/songwriter, musician, and sing-jay produces music that mixes traditional and modern dancehall eras with the soul of gospel.

Inspired by the rich tapestry of church music she was raised with, AMI has crafted her unique sound and style to inspire and empower her generation to live with purpose, chase their God-given dreams and encourage them to follow Christ. Introduced to the world of reggae and dancehall by her late brother, Nicholas Phill, AMI was called to expand her musical knowledge to include old school (‘80s-’90s) and modern deejay styles. Nicholas’s passion for Jamaican music exposed AMI to legends such as Buju Banton, Shabba Ranks, and Papa San. When AMI discovered the new wave of reggae by artists like Chronixx, Protoje, Damian Marley, and Koffee, her songwriting reached a new height of refinement. Thanks to her expansive range of inspirations, AMI creates music that pushes boundaries and tests the limits of genres.

"The VERSIONS Fellowship has opened up my eyes to see the abilities that have been in me that I was not fully aware of. Through constant Fellowship and mentorship, I’ve become more compassionate, open-minded, educated and informed about social injustices that constantly plague our world. VERSIONS has planted the seeds of leadership, innovation, love, unity and social justice in me. I look forward to seeing the future me when these seeds bear plenty of fruits. My involvement in Versions has been a defining moment of my life. I couldn’t see myself doing anything more meaningful in 2022-2023 than being a part of VERSIONS."
