BAD SOUND

Yinga
Play Now

Jheanelle Owens, aka Yinga The Bad Violinist, embraces Jamaica’s motto, “out of many, one people,” celebrating diversity and ancestral wisdom. With a Computer Science degree from Tufts University, she chose Jamaica’s sound system culture over a Ph.D., performing with artists like Stalk Ashley and Sizzla Kalonji. Co-designing “Techquity” at Tufts, she explores revolutionary technologists’ roles. Pursuing a Masters in Reparatory Justice, she lectures at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, honoring her African heritage and finding solace in powerlifting. Jheanelle Owens epitomizes Black Revolutionary Culture with strength and resilience.
